I thought the unconstitutional ‘standing committee’ composed of heretics like KJS, Ian Douglas, Janet Trisk etc might well choose Morgan, one of their own members. Morgan who heads the Lilliputian Church in Wales has had a spectacularly unsuccessful ministry, driving membership far down [below the 50,000 mark mark I believe] and yet further down while espousing any policy he can to divide and further that decline. Mouthy, opinionated, disobedient to the decisions of the Communion, occasionally bombastic with an insubstantial intellect and education, he is shortly to retire.
The Standing Committee presumes to put up this failure as the representative of the 38 Primates of the Primates Meeting [what is left of it after that other spectacular Welsh failure Rowan Williams emasculated it]. In doing so, they only reveal themselves for what they are – part of the Rotten Borough of Lambeth Palace and the ACO.
Now Morgan did remember to excuse himself from the vote in the standing committee in accordance with constitutional procedures didn’t he, or was this another example of illegality in this wretched body of white liberal stooges?
Anyone got some up to date figures for attendance in the Church in Wales? Their figures used to appear on the ACO website, but they have been remarkably coy recently.
Yep, pro gay marriage British guy, one of the leading revisionists in the Northern Hemisphere, elected to represent 60 million African and Asian members of the Communion (who have no other representation at all), by using a voting system invented to elect Central Committee members in the Soviet Union.
You can expect a short list for ABoC that is made up of +Salisbury, +Southwark and Jeffrey Johns.
What a farce- the Standing Committee of a British charity that exists for the promotion of heresy and gay marriage gets a vote for ABoC, and the Communion gets none.
Well, I guess all these bogus committees (ACC, Standing Committee, Crown Nominating Committee) can now get back to job #1- integrating TEC, CoE and the other northern aging white revisionist churches into the Episcopal Cooperative Collective of Autonomous Churches, and ridding themselves of all those uninclusive Africans, Asians, Evangelicals, Anglo Catholics.

I think this is a good sign.
These guys were caught between a rock and a hard place — elect as a representative from a bunch of people who refuse to even participate in their little committee — or elect one of their own.
They chose the latter course and one that — rather obviously — isn’t one of the other side and is in no way representative of the Gospel that the other side believes.
Since 2003 I’ve always been happy to see clear and stark differentiation so that there may be consequences. None of this Griswoldian subtlety and convolution for me, as that muddies the water. Now the Primates who preach the Gospel can see clearly who the Primate on the Crown Nominations Commission is — and that’s all to the good.
And so the committee to choose the next Captain of the Titanic welcomes another member of the crew. Meanwhile, the majority of the passengers and not a few of the crew continue to leave the ship in lifeboats, some of which have been constructed from the remaining sound planks of the mother ship.

in 2007: 38,389
in 2008: 37,633 [-2%]
in 2009: 36,844 [-2%]
in 2010: 35,028 [-5%]
There are no previous reports on the Church in Wales website, however from other published sources one can gain an insight into prior years performance. From this article it appears that average Sunday Attendance in 2006 was 39,490, and from Table 2 here Average Sunday Attendance when Morgan took over was in the region of 43,000.
So taking all this together, during seven years of Morgan’s incumbency from 2003 to 2010, the Church of Wales lost 8,000 in Average Sunday attendance [43,000-35,000], a decline of 18% or almost a fifth, 5,000 of those [2006 to 2010] were lost by Morgan in just the last four years a lost of 12 % in four years.
Morgan has been Archbishop of Wales from 2003 and his predecessor was Rowan Williams from 1999 to 2003. It is a pretty woeful performance this pair have brought to their archepiscopate in Wales and they now bring the stench of death from there to the election of the next Primate of All England. I don’t think any of this will encourage confidence in Canterbury in the rest of the Communion although we in the Church of England [perhaps] have to put up with the antics of these twits. Canterbury continues to shoot himself and his office in the foot with this latest exercise in gerrymandering.
nb to #8 Wikipedia still lists Barry Morgan as a member of the Primates’ Standing Committee, but he does not in the latest listing appear to be still listed as a member of the ‘Standing Committee’.
#3 Yes, TJ. The whole of the six dioceses of the Church in Wales is about the size of a small English diocese. The continued promotion by RDW of his old and collapsing province and the overimportance he grants it in decision-making is typical. There are some great parishes in the Church in Wales, but that is in spite of its Primate, the useless raging liberal revisionist, Barry Morgan.
did you really expect anything else? a lot of the conservatives have left so there isn’t many remaining to fight for an orthodox abc.

#11- I looked up my own prognostication from March, and the only thing I actually expected to be different was that I figured they would opt for ++Mexico (who is much more liberal than his churches). His province signing on to the Covenant probably eliminated him from consideration. So with no “person of color” available (Hong Kong and Japan being considered conservative by the standard of the ruling elite), it would have been down to Morgan and Aspinall. The latter has been undependable of late, and his treatment of KJS when in Australia was considered insulting by her entourage, since he did not arrange some huge cathedral service ala the ABoC welcoming the Pope. So Morgan was the obvious choice- being the most pro-gay of primates other than KJS and Hiltz, who would cause bad press.
So, the Nominating Commission is now 70% people who think +Sentamu is a fundamentalist, although in reality he is a liberal by any rational standard. The probable nominee will have an official won’t be in communion with a dozen or more provinces by 2018, which is, of course, the point of the exercise from both the prime minister’s and KJS’ point of view.
Oh, great. Another Welshman intruding on the life of the English Church. Are there Englishmen and Englishwomen on the committee that selects the Archbishop of Wales? Do Englishpeople sit on the committee selecting the Moderator of the Church of Scotland?
